why should we crochet, or do anything at all?

After devoting myself practically non-stop to crochetting I decided I wanted to share my knowledge with any other person who decides to take up crochet with a loving heart and spirit.

All the good names for blogs were taken, or so it seemed. A long time went by, but like a flash, I found my dream name: Skein fairies. Skein fairies are asleep until you start crochetting, and once you finish, they reveal their true form.

So this blog will be like a journey. I will be showing you my skein fairies, and then I'll ask you what did the fairies bring to your house.

Before we begin with our journey, I want to say that many of my crochet projects have been finished, but many were terminated before seeing the light of day. What I'm trying to say is that learning has been difficult sometimes, and I´ve had to fail catastrophically more than once to learn a particularly hard lesson. It's ok to lose heart, forgive yourself for it, but always keep this in heart: the only way to succeed and to become a master in any endeavour is practice.

Practice makes perfect: an old saying that also goes by as "ass hours" in my family.

"Ass hours" is a humorous way we have for saying that if you want to improve, you must spend time sitting down, doing that action or habit you wish to improve. So remember the ass hours before embarking on a long and perilous journey with your crochet hook. Be realistic: some projects are too hard for beginners! Internet is full of beautiful and simple patterns, and there are many great teachers out there who are generous enough to give them out for free. I will classify all the patterns I share, to help you choose well.

Enjoy the crochet projects you choose, and laugh regularly. The time we have is limited, so we must strive to use it well. If you made a mistake, don't be afraid to begin anew. The crochet projects you choose to make spring from your core, and they are shaped by your hands: you are there, in every stitch. Try to be generous, but not selfless: choose some projects for yourself as well.

Hopefully, you'll choose to do the things you love, and you'll love what you do, and in living like this, you will inspire other people to live like you.
